Everything You Wish About The City In The Past, Present & Future
Engrossed in Italo Calvino’s book ‘Invisible Cities’ where he wrote about Marco Polo’s poetic imaginations and fantastical voyages, he accounts for the unusual and extraordinary cities and places he had journeyed.
The 3D sculpture artwork of the ‘Open Book Project’ seeks to draw the audience into one of the enchanting places of Marco Polo’s travels, illustrated through depth and the mystic. The inside pages mimic a pop up book, depicting his encounter within the city of Baucis after a long march through the woodlands.
The cover artwork illustrates the observations of the different cities, depicted into a surrealistic map where whimsical cities in the book are connected by the visual pneumonic of a ladder.
