The illustrations were inspired by how stories were traditionally depicted on porcelain wares, hence the blue was used in both artworks. The oval canvas resembles the shape of a large porcelain platter, alike how dishes are served up during family meals. The artworks illustrate stories of curious foreigners travelling from abroad, crossing the oceans to taste the seafood at Redhouse. Both artworks are correlated, zooming into the oval canvas we see people dining in the restaurant, which is reflected in the rectangular canvas, where a family is celebrating a reunion, feasting on the dishes at The Redhouse Seafood Restaurant.
