I worked on a private commission for a very special couple, Darren & Sharon. There was no brief for this commission — it was an open brief for me to interpret the scenarios, and they were adamant to not view the work-in-progress. I had never worked on any project as liberating as this. I truly appreciate their trust, yet at the same time it was a nerve wrecking experience wondering if they would like the concept and paintings!

After several exchanges of interviews with the couple, I really admired their chemistry and bond. With that in mind, I decided to create a series of paintings, each painting telling a part of their adventure. I kept the creative process rather organic as there was no set parameters. I had no idea the number and the exact sizes of each painting, and just went on painting whenever I had inspiration. I knew that this series had to be a whimsical portrayal of their adventurous spirit and unique relationship.
